John Alvenus

Pre-Owned Equipment Manager

john alvenus

Originally from Crystal River Florida, John is a Florida native that has a passion for tinkering. After attending Sante Fe College in Gainesville where he received an Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Electronics, he went on to land an internship at Shands Hospital that ultimately led to a full-time position. While working at the hospital John decided to go back to school for a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Upon completion, John continued to work at Shands hospital but saw a need for after-hours Biomed services. Through friends and connections made throughout his career, John launched an after-hours Biomed business to repair the hospital’s research equipment and sell used medical equipment the hospital was disposing. Over the next 10 years the company John started, BioMed Techs Inc. grew into a full-time job and subsequently, he left Shands to focus solely on his company. As time went on the business continued to thrive and in 2020 he sold his shares to enjoy some well-deserved time off.

He decided he wasn’t done in the Biomed world and thus has joined CE-Tech bringing his knowledge and expertise to our team as Pre-Owned Equipment Manager. He is very involved in the biomedical community; currently on the executive board of the Florida Biomedical Society FBS, serving as a chapter rep all the way up to President of FBS. Also serving as a member of FBS’s local chapter, Northeast Florida Association of Medical Instrumentation (NEFAMI). As well as returning to his alma mater as an academic advisor for their Biomed program. When not working he enjoys fixing things for friends and family and working on older CJ Jeeps, as he has always had a natural curiosity to find out how things work.
